The PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (PhD NRES) programme is interdisciplinary, bringing in different perspectives to the understanding and management of natural resources and environmental challenges. The Doctoral students will select research topics from the following research themes: land degradation neutrality; restoration ecology; digital technologies for sustainable natural resource and environment management; climate action, including climate change mitigation, adaptation, finance, loss and damage; disaster risk management; sustainable intensification of farming systems; bio-geochemical processes; natural resources and environmental policy and governance; environmental pollution; Air quality; Environmental Security, Circular economy  and waste management;  Soil and water conservation; fisheries resources; forestry; wildlife; minerals; oil and gas; natural resource and environmental economics; gender and natural resources management; ecosystem services; biodiversity conservation; biodiversity informatics; green energy technologies; environmental sociology; integrated water resources management; environmental education and extension; conservation landscapes; emerging pests and diseases; agro ecology and environmental justice.
