Public Administration & Management: An Overview
This Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA) degree is 3 years and therefore, designed to provide training in the public policy field as well as public management to students. This Bachelor’s degree in public administration will provide a background for those interested in pursuing careers in governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, management in hospitals or public health institution, consultants in private firms, school boards, and human resources. Careers in international agencies, urban or regional planning, city management, financial planning, public finance and public relations also at the local, state or provincial, national or federal levels, as well as in the non-profit sector.
 
Target Group
The Programme targets the following categories of students:
  • Holders of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent.
  • Diploma holders from recognized institutions.

Public administration in this 21st century is undergoing dramatic change, in both advanced economies, and also in many parts of the developing world. Globalization and the pluralization of service provision are the driving forces behind these changes, and as a result, Policy problems faced by governments are increasingly complex, wicked and global, rather than simple, linear, and national in focus; yet the prevailing paradigms through which public sector reforms are designed and implemented in such economies are relatively static and do not fully encompass the significance or implications of these wider changes
