Business Administration: An Overview
This is a 3year program, leading to the award of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree. The BBA degree promises the graduates higher level employability at the entry level of management profession through helping them fulfill potential for greater personal development. The programme is offered during the Day, Evening, weekend and distance-learning mode

Objectives of the Programme

The fundamental objective for the reviewed BBA Day, Evening and weekend programme at Busitema University is to inculcate in the students an ability to assess and analyze information using basic tools for analytical thinking, good judgment, entrepreneurship, leadership and other critical managerial skills. The specific objectives of the programme are to:
  • Provide innovative and interdisciplinary undergraduate courses of study that enable students to exercise analytical and imaginative thinking and make well-founded ethical decisions;
  • Educate the new generation of leaders for the 21st century capable of shaping the society with vision, justice, and clarity;
  • Understand individual disciplines in business and management sciences, and the necessary techniques for dealing with the economic, social and political environment of corporate entities, especially with regard to quantitative techniques and communication skills;
  • Provide adequate response to the managerial, administrative and leadership requirements of government and industry; and
  • Develop the knowledge, analytical ability and balanced judgment to solve business problems.
Learning Outcomes
The students who complete the BBA degree will be able to:
  • Communicate effectively and professionally and demonstrate the ability to create coherent written and oral statements with the diverse audience across the cultures;
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and evaluate relevant information for decision-making and make usage of diagnostic thinking skills and analytical techniques;
  • Understand the importance of teamwork and group dynamics in achieving organizational goals and demonstrate ability to work effectively in teams;
  • Understand various leadership styles and demonstrate proven ability in exercising these styles according to the requirement of the situation;
  • Acquire awareness of global diverse perspectives and understand the theory, operations, and challenges of global business;
  • Demonstrate effectively practicing of overall functional business knowledge and ability to identify and interpret essential business concepts, principles and skills; and
  • Identify core organizational values and understand the issues of ethical and social diversity based on ethic, gender, religion, and culture and demonstrate the ability to propose feasible solutions to these issues.
 
Target Group
The Programme targets the following categories of students:
  • Holders of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent, for periods of 3 years or more.
  • Diploma holders from recognized institutions. Who shall be admitted to second year of study based on the performance at Diploma level.
